Each classroom uses the Extron System7 controller. Instructions for using this controller are available at every teaching station.
Nearly all of our classrooms have a full set of presentation equipment, including a PC, a Mac, laptop connections, a CD/DVD/VHS player, audio system and data projector.
Some classrooms have slide projectors or document cameras, and most have overhead projectors. These rooms are scheduled by the Registrar's office.
Facilities for multimedia development are available in Jesup 101, Jesup 316, Spencer 216, and and Stetson F18. The media studio in Jesup 101 is staffed nearly all day, every day, by students trained in multimedia development. The media studio in Jesup 316 is primarily for faculty, but is also used by students who need the copy stand, plotter, or other high-end printing options. The media studio in Spencer 216 is new for Fall 2007.
The Recording studio, previously in Stetson, has been moved to Dodd Annex along with the equipment loan center and a faculty helpdesk. It will open in late September '08. The recording studio is adequate for a small vocal group, for interviews, or for recording audio. It is frequently used by language faculty preparing audio for classes. There is an editing station in the same room for postproduction use. To reserve the recording studio, call x4091.
These facilities are open to the Williams College community. You must have a College ID and password to use the computers. The faculty media studios in Jesup 316 and Stetson F18 are open to students under special circumstances, and the specialty labs (GIS, music composition, and other department-specific spaces) are limited to students enrolled in particular courses.
